Are you pregnant and do you have back, hip, knee or leg pain?

Have you been told that you just need to wait until you have your baby to feel better?

Have you been told that there is nothing that can be done for you at this time?

If you answered yes, then you need to read this

Pregnancy is normal and healthy.  Back pain is typical for all people, but should not be the norm, however most people do not know what to do about it.  Sciatica is also a typical side effect of your changing body, but also should be addressed.  There are other typical “side effects” of pregnancy that can be eliminated or significantly decreased with the appropriate care.

I recently spoke with a woman on the phone who told me that when she was in her final trimester she was referred by her physician to a physical therapist for her back pain.   When she arrived for her appointment, and was finally seen by the therapist, the therapist told her that there was nothing she could do for her because she was so close to her due date.  She called me, 6 months after the birth of her child, because she still has this same pain.  I find this rather upsetting as there are many techniques I use that are safe during pregnancy that help relieve and reduce back pain, and she should not have had to wait this long before receiving help.  I can help you feel better, move easier and see you in my office within 24-48 hours, even if you are in your final weeks of pregnancy.

I specialize in a technique called Myofascial Release and it is a very safe, gentle and effective form of hands-on manual physical therapy, massage and bodywork that helps the tight and painful areas in your body let go and feel better again.

Prior to delivery of your baby (prenatal) it helps to have your pelvis balanced and any restrictions released to aide in your natural process of birthing your baby.  I can also help after delivery during the postnatal time with any lingering issues and can teach you how to regain your core stability, strength and a flat stomach.  These techniques can also help if you had a rectus diastisis (abdominal wall separation) or other normal postnatal pelvic floor problems you may experience such as stress urinary incontinence (leaking when you sneeze)..
