A Doctor of Physical Therapy will call you at the time you picked to hear what's going on, answer your questions, and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit. Three things to do before then.
We'll call from (510) 338-7283 for Oakland or (619) 354-7036 for San Diego. Keep an eye out for it at your booked time.
Your DPT will ask about them, so a minute of thought now makes the call more useful:
This call is your first step toward understanding what may be driving the problem and what your best next move is. Your DPT will learn:
From there, we'll answer your questions, match you with the right specialist, and, if we're a fit, help you reserve an evaluation time. Set aside about 10-15 minutes somewhere you can speak openly.
With Scout, Chief of Morale BoostingDr. Ashley or one of our other Doctors of Physical Therapy will call to hear what's going on, answer your questions, and get you scheduled if we're the right fit.
In this short video, Dr. Ben Bagge, PT, DPT, CSCS explains how our approach helps active adults understand what's really driving their pain, keep training safely, and build a realistic path back to the activities they care about.
You'll learn:
Watch this before your call so you know what to expect and can make the most of your conversation with your DPT.

Not a receptionist, instead a Doctor of Physical Therapy who asks what's going on, how long it's been bothering you, what you've already tried, and what you want to get back to.
Scheduling, how many visits it usually takes, what the first visit looks like, whether you need a referral (you don't). Nothing is left for you to find out later.
If we can help, we match you with the Doctor of Physical Therapy who specializes in your issue and book your evaluation at a time that works for you.
Read these now and the call can be about you, not logistics.
No. In California you can be evaluated by a physical therapist without a referral. If your situation needs a physician, imaging, or another specialist involved, we'll tell you on the call or at your evaluation and help you get there. Waiting weeks for a doctor's appointment just to be told "try PT" is time you don't need to lose.
We hold time for new patients, so most people are seen within the week. Your DPT will give you real openings on the call and book you on the spot if you're ready.
60 minutes, one-on-one, with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We listen to the full story, watch how you move (in your actual sport or activity where we can), test strength and mobility, and treat what's irritated that same visit.
You leave with a clear explanation of what's driving the problem, what has to change, and a plan with milestones so you know you're winning. Not a sheet of stretches.
It depends on what we find, and we won't guess before we've assessed you. As a guide, most active-adult cases see meaningful progress in the first 3 to 4 visits and are back to full training in roughly 6 to 10, depending on complexity. Your DPT will lay out the plan after the evaluation and adjust it with you as you progress.
Almost never. Our rule is modify, don't stop. We keep you training with smart adjustments whenever it's safe to, because losing fitness and confidence every time something hurts is part of why the problem keeps coming back.
Usually not. For most active-adult injuries the best first step is a thorough movement and strength assessment. Imaging is for red flags, trauma, or cases where the result would actually change the plan, and we'll tell you if you're one of them. A scan shows every scuff and crack; it doesn't tell you what you can safely do next. The evaluation does.
Clothes you can move in and the shoes you train in. If it's a knee or hip, shorts help. Bring any imaging reports or notes from other providers if you have them, and come ready to move. The evaluation happens on a training floor, not in a medical office.
Here's what's different about the hour you'd spend with us.

Symptoms are what you feel. Signs are what we test. Our plan clears both, so the problem stays gone and you come back stronger than where you started.
Not just where it hurts, but why it happened in the first place. The evaluation looks up and down the chain.
Correct the movement issues, rebuild strength, and get your body working how it's supposed to, while you keep training.
Build the durability to move well and perform at full intensity without breaking down again. We call it Mount Do More: the goal isn't baseline, it's beyond it.
"Other PT clinics will spend 20 min with you, go through the generic exercises and send you on your way. Complete 180 degree difference in my experience at Pro+Kinetix. Gabriel actually took the time to investigate the root of my issues and put together a specific plan to return to the sports I love."
Leah M. · Google review, Oakland"Out of all the physical therapists I've worked with, Dr. Naomi was the only one that helped me understand my low back pain and gave me a full plan to make sure it doesn't come back when I'm weightlifting... After 1 month I was able to get back to deadlifting HEAVY."
Brandon P. · Google review, San Diego"I really appreciate their approach - pairing you with a single therapist who you work with for an hour each visit. This is unique compared to other places I've tried, and I think it makes a huge difference. Kassina really dove deep into what was going on and addressed the root cause of my pain."
Sarah M. · Google review, Oakland"Came to Prokinetix with unbearable ITBS and 8 weeks left until my 50k race... Fast forward 8 weeks, I finished my 50k completely pain free thanks to Kyle and his program."
Lucas G. · Google review, San DiegoBoth are performance gym environments, not crowded medical mills: turf, racks, private treatment rooms, and room to move.
