What do you know about your “Lats?”

You may have heard of your “Lats” before when working out at the gym or with a personal trainer.

But what are your Lats? Lats is the colloquial term for latissimus dorsi muscle!

Did you know that your latissimus dorsi muscle is actually attached to a part of your humerus (your upper arm bone)!

This muscle helps you extend your arm, lift your arm out to the side, & rotate your arm!

This makes your lats a very important muscle: especially for climbing, rowing or swimming.

Your latissimus dorsi is a huge muscle with many attachments all over your back. Make sure you are stretching and exercising your lats!

Dr. Colin Miller, a Physical Therapist at Pro+Kinetix Physical Therapy and Performance will lead you through Latissimus Dorsi foam roller exercises as well as two stretches.
