The IT band is a long fascia band on the outside of the leg that connects at the hips and down to the knee. The TFL is the muscle that attaches to the IT band and the pelvis. If these structures become tight or inflamed due to running or other intense activity; issues like snapping hip, runners knee, and patella femoral syndrome can appear causing knee pain or hip pain.
