How does water aid in my performance?
Hydration is a key component to performing at the top of your ability not matter what you compete in. Water helps your body to: • Build Muscle • Reduce Body Fat • Protect Your Joints • Increase Energy • Improve Speed, Power, and Strength • Enhance Concentration
How much water should I drink to stay hydrated? The recommended amount of water to drink daily so that you can make sure you are adequately hydrated is 0.67 x your weight (in kg). This gives you the number of ounces of water you should be drinking daily. Keep in mind not all of this must come from water. It can also come from foods that you eat such as fruits. If you are working out or in competition you should consume 20-24oz of water per lb of weight lost.
What does this mean to you?
Did you know that 66% of athletes start competition dehydrated?
Just a 1% dehydrated state equals up to a 10-12% decrease in performance. When you are 2% dehydrated your ability to track an object decreases by 20%! By just being hydrated you may be giving yourself a head start on 66% of the competition.
