Does rolling over in bed give you the spins?
Does tilting your head, looking up, or looking underneath your body make you feel like you are going to vomit?
If you have these symptoms and they last just a short time, like 30 seconds, you may have Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. BPPV, for short, means that the vertigo is not harmful, only lasts a short while, and is position dependent.
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is a disorder caused by problems in the inner ear. It’s symptoms include positional vertigo or a spinning sensation caused by changes in the position of your head. It usually only lasts seconds or minutes, and may also make you feel nauseous. It can also be a symptom of a recent head trauma or injury, like falling or being in a car accident.
What can you do about it? You can do nothing and see if the symptoms go away. You can wait to have your physician see you.
