Knots of neck, shoulder and kinesiology Tape

If you are suffering from neck pain, you may have also felt the painful knots. This occurs in the upper trapezius, levator scapula and in the lower trapezius. These muscles form the area of the shoulder where the Neck and Shoulder meet. This trigger point can cause tension and pain in the neck or shoulders.

There are many methods to relieve trigger points, including massage and trigger point therapy. Although electrical stimulation and ultrasound were used to loosen knots, the scientific evidence shows that they are not as effective. You can relieve your neck knots by doing different exercises like stretching the neck muscles. But, it’s important to keep the symptoms from getting worse.

Kinesiology is a modern treatment for neck and Shoulder knots.

What Is Kinesiology tape?

It’s the latest and most advanced form of physical therapy. This treatment can be used to loosen the knots in the muscles. Kinesiology tape can be used to control pain and muscle contraction.

It can be used to lift the skin away from the underlying tissues. This will increase circulation and reduce muscular spasms. When you experience neck pain, it helps reduce trigger points and knots in trapezius muscles and levator muscle.

A special type of tape strip called a lifting or bandage strip can be used to decrease the trigger points and notes in your trapezius, levator and levator muscles.

Your healthcare provider must be consulted before you attempt to use kinesiology tape by yourself.

You should consult a physical therapist to assess your injury. This treatment is not suitable for all people and it can cause more harm that good. In addition, tape cannot be applied in certain areas of the body. After an evaluation of your neck pain, trigger points and other symptoms, a physical therapist will determine whether you need kinesiology taping for your condition.

  • Position yourself in a comfortable place and expose your neck and shoulders.
  • One lift strip approximately three to four inches long should be cut for each side.
  • You can remove the paper backing from each strip to make it look like a wrap. However, both ends will still have the paper backing. This is why it is called a “bandage”.
  • The tape should be stretched 100%. Place it directly on the trigger point of your neck or shoulder. Next, remove the backing from both ends of the lift strip. Finally, place the tape on your skin.
  • Last, rub the tape gently so that heat sticks better to the skin.
