Some exercises that physical therapists might suggest to improve your mobility in bed are:

Gluteal sets

It’s a very simple exercise you can do so your buttock muscles work after a period on bed rest. These exercises can be performed following surgery to prevent blood clotting and keep the blood moving.

You will use your muscles to squeeze and relax your butt, acting like a sponge. Next, push blood.

You can perform this exercise by lying on your back and squeezing your buttocks. After 5 seconds, relax slowly and then repeat the process 10 times.

Hip Adduction Squeeze

For improving your bed mobility, you need strong Hip muscles.

Low Trunk Rotation to Increase Rolling in Bed

Rolling in bed is essential to ensure you can safely roll out of bed each morning. These are lower trunk rotation exercises. Here is how to do them.

  • With your knees bent, lie on your back.
  • Gently roll your knees toward one side.
  • Keep your shoulders flat when you roll your knees.
  • Now return your knees to the original position.
  • Repeat the process 10 times on each side
